Small Groups

Welcome to our 2019 fall semester! We are so excited to see how God works through this ministry! We encourage everyone who is able, to participate in small groups. As followers of Christ, we are always growing…the sanctification process is life-long! One of the main ways we pursue and live out gospel-centered community is through small groups – this is an important part of the discipleship process! Groups begin the week of Sept. 8 and meet weekly for 12 weeks unless otherwise noted.

God of Creation - Genesis Part 1 - [Women's Group]

**Childcare provided @ BHCC**
Sundays 6:00-8:00 pm - Lee Home
Leaders: Malea Lee & Deb Hesson

The Bible is not a book about self-discovery; it is a book about God discovery. The opening lines and chapters of Genesis teach us fundamental truths about God. We watch Him bring light after darkness, order after chaos, and rest after toil—all through the power of His Word. Over 10 sessions of verse-by-verse study, we’ll dive into the first 11 chapters of Genesis by following three critical stages of understanding: comprehension, interpretation, and application. When our group meets on Sundays, author & Bible teacher Jen Wilkin, will tie everything we’ve been studying throughout the week together in a teaching video. In this study we’ll revisit familiar stories and historical figures, challenge our basic knowledge, and discover deeper meanings in the text. As God reveals Himself through Scripture, we can only begin to understand ourselves when we first glimpse the character, attributes, and promises of our Creator. There can be no true knowledge of self apart from knowledge of God. The heart cannot love what the mind does not know.

*** This study involves a lot of daily, repetitive reading of the text as well as daily homework in your study book. Our group discussion time will be much more thought-level focused vs feelings-level. The intention is for this same group to come back together for the Winter semester and move onto God of Covenant - Genesis Part 2 - a study of Genesis 12-50. ***

The Truth Project

**Childcare provided @ BHCC**
Sundays 6:00-8:00 pm - Davis Home
Leaders: Dave & Kristie Davis & Eric & Diana VanBuskirk

During Focus on the Family's "The Truth Project", we will embark on what could be the most important study of your life and the lives of those who will participate in your small group.
We are all engaged in a cosmic battle - a battle that is raging for the hearts and minds of people the world over, pitting the truth claims of God against the lies of the world, the flesh and the devil. It is a battle over what you truly believe.
This project is designed to build a systematic and comprehensive biblical framework by studying God's blueprint for all of life. But even more so, we pray that it will be an encounter with God as we endeavor to gaze upon the His face and to seek to know Him more deeply. Because it is there, and only there, that we find true transformation that will renew your mind and heart and equip you to resist conforming to the world (Romans 12:2).
This is our prayer for you and for all who join our project study.

*** Please note this is a 13 week group ***

You'll Get Through This

**Childcare at BHCC**
Wednesdays 5:15-7:00 pm - Everett Home (dog-friendly home!)
Leaders: Erica Foshe-Everett & Brittany Raue

Sometimes the challenges of life threaten to overwhelm us. We wonder how we'll carry on after the day the bottom dropped out. For you, it may have been the day of a financial crisis, a bad diagnosis, an accident, or you were served divorce papers by your spouse. Whatever it was, you knew your life was going to change dramatically, and it didn't seem like it was for the better. In You'll Get Through This: Hope and Help for Your Turbulent Times, Max Lucado encourages readers through sharing the Biblical story of Joseph. Stripped of his identity, thrown into a pit and sold as a slave, his was a story of defeat and challenges, but as time passed God worked through his circumstances to bring redemption and reconciliation. And although it may seem hard to believe, you will get through this too. The story of Joseph's life didn't end in the pit and neither does yours.

**Childcare provided**
Thursdays 6:00-8:00 pm - Roster Home
Leaders: Dustin & Jennie Roster

Money, in-laws, sex, arguments … we all want a healthy, loving marriage, but there are so many real issues that can stand in the way. Research has shown that over 50% of marriages are ending in divorce. That is why we've partnered with Pastor Chip Ingram of Living on the Edge Radio Program, financial guru Dave Ramsey and Super Bowl MVP Kurt Warner to tackle the common issues couples are facing in their marriages today. Marriage: Built to Last isn't your typical marriage study. Throughout the series, you'll watch 24 real life couples from across the country share candidly about their struggles in communication, finances, sexual intimacy, expectations, and more. In this Bible study, you will hear the story of Dave Ramsey and his wife Sharon as they recovered from financial stress and hardship. You will hear the story of Kurt Warner and his wife Brenda share candidly about expectations, trust issues, and adjusting to a blended family. Whether you're newly married, remarried, or wanting to improve your relationship, Chip Ingram provides Biblical and practical teaching to give you tools to live intentionally and love biblically. In addition to the study, this group will have a strong relational component, with date & game nights!
