BHCC Discipleship Track 1 - FOLLOW

Sundays 11:45-1:15pm - right after 2nd service - BHCC (basement)
Leader: Mike Lutz
One Semester

A disciple of Jesus is a follower of Jesus. We are, as Christians, disciples…which means we should be growing to be more and more like Jesus. If being a disciple is being a follower - then discipleship is the process, guided by the church, where we help disciples along their journey. Here at BHCC our Discipleship Strategy involves 4 steps. We help to grow disciples by encouraging people to FOLLOW Jesus, CONNECT with the church, GROW in faith, and LIVE with purpose. In order to help in the process, BHCC has launched 4 discipleship tracks (one for each step). We believe that each track will be helpful in orienting those who call BHCC home to a life-long journey of discipleship. Track 1 (FOLLOW) is designed to help us know more about the God that we are committed to following. This is a deep dive into the core basic doctrines of our faith.

Finding time together is the number one relational need of most couples. Where does time go? We try to make it. Save it. Seize it. Buy it. And borrow it. And yet time continues to elude too many couples. The moments you miss together are irreplaceable; gone forever. Relationship experts Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott will help you better manage the priceless resource of time. They will show you how to reclaim the time you’ve been missing and how to maximize the moments you have together. This is not about being more productive, but about being more connected.

Leaders: Phillip Close & Robb Cromer
One Semester

God has created men to have incredible strength. But today’s culture has hijacked masculinity, distorting strength into passivity and abuse. In this 5-part video Bible study series, pastor Joby Martin invites men to embrace God’s definition of masculinity and to step into His calling upon their lives to wield their strength on behalf of others. God has designed men to be protectors, providers, and defenders. When men act like men, everyone flourishes.

The Bible is not a book about self-discovery; it is a book about God discovery. The book of Genesis shows us that the God of creation and covenant is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Over 10 sessions of verse-by-verse study each semester, we’ll dive into Genesis by following three critical stages of understanding: comprehension, interpretation, and application. In this study we’ll revisit familiar stories and historical figures, challenge our basic knowledge, and discover deeper meanings in the text. As God reveals Himself through Scripture, we can only begin to understand ourselves when we first glimpse the character, attributes, and promises of our Creator. There can be no true knowledge of self apart from knowledge of God.

Requirements:
God of Creation & God of Covenant study books, by Jen Wilkin (Lifeway $15.99 each)
Your Bible - you’ll need access to both NIV & ESV translations, one of which you are comfortable marking in and making notes, the other can be digital (Bible App).
We suggest purchasing the ESV Scripture Journal: Genesis (Lifeway $5.99) to use as your note-taking copy
Highlighters, markers, or colored pencils

*** This study involves daily, repetitive reading of the text as well as daily homework in your study book.

Exodus - [Women's Group]

Sundays 6:00-8:00pm - Location TBD
Leaders: Bethany Gates & Janet Kuper
Two Semester Commitment
*Childcare provided at BHCC*

The exodus of the Israelites shapes our understanding of the whole Bible, its themes reverberating all the way to Revelation. Exodus is the birth narrative of a nation unmistakably guided by the Great Deliverer.
Over 10-sessions of verse-by-verse study each semester, we’ll learn that Israel’s story is our story: the same God who delivered Israel also delivers all those He loves from slavery to sin and from service to the pharaohs of this world. We’ll revisit familiar stories and with fresh perspective, ask what these stories teach God's children today about how to live as those set free.

Requirements:
God of Deliverance & God of Freedom study books, by Jen Wilkin (Lifeway $15.99 each - please note God of Freedom is only available for pre-order at this time)
Your Bible - you’ll need access to both NIV & ESV translations, one of which you are comfortable marking in and making notes, the other can be digital (Bible App).
We suggest purchasing the ESV Scripture Journal: Exodus (Lifeway $5.99) to use as your note-taking copy
Highlighters, markers, or colored pencils

*** This study involves daily, repetitive reading of the text as well as daily homework in your study book.

Many Christians feel unprepared and uncertain when it comes to living each day as followers of Christ. We often know what we are supposed to do, and even why we are supposed to do it. Yet when we lack confidence in ourselves and our spiritual development, we fail to live boldly as difference makers in our world. In his book, Everything You Need: 8 Essential Steps to a Life of Confidence in the Promises of God,
Dr. David Jeremiah explores 2 Peter 1:5–10 to highlight seven critical tools God provides each of His people: virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. When we use the equipment God provides, we can live confidently in the knowledge that we will never stumble.

Requirements: Your Bible & Everything You Need: 8 Essential Steps to a Life of Confidence in the Promises of God book by Dr. David Jeremiah (Amazon $2.99 Kindle or paperback $8.84)
