2. Relevance - Connecting through topics that matter and are important to our lives

3. Relationships - Building community by doing life together on mission

4. Discipleship - Growing in personal obedience to become more Christ-like

5. Prayer-dependency- Seeing the value in praying together and for one another as brothers and sisters in Christ

2018 summer semester

Welcome to our summer semester! We are excited to have some fun during this shorter cycle and watch God work through this ministry! We encourage everyone who is able, to participate in small groups. As followers of Christ, we are always growing…the sanctification process is life-long! One of the ways we pursue and live out gospel-centered community is through our small groups – this is an important part of the discipleship process!

To sign up for a group you have 3 easy choices:

1. Email Malea your selection

2. Indicate your choice on the tear off card on your bulletin on Sunday and drop it in the offering plate

3. Pick up a physical copy of the groups at church and complete the back page of the packet and turn it in to Malea

Once you have signed up, expect to receive confirmation from your leader/co-leader via email, including information about your first group meeting (directions, syllabus, etc.). There are only so many spots available per group, so we encourage you to sign up early to be sure that there is room in your preferred group.

*Important things to note: Each group will last approx. 8 weeks and will begin the week of June 10th. Some groups may have a small cost associated with them. Once you receive confirmation of your group – use the information provided in this packet to secure your materials. But please do not let cost be an issue in signing up for a group. If you need financial assistance in getting your materials, you can either let your group leader know when they contact you or send an email to Pastor Matt or Malea. Please note that childcare is available for several groups! We are looking forward to another great small group semester!

3. If (Biking Group)

Sundays @ 6:00 pm - Locations will change weekly

Leaders: Jim & Beth Mayhew

“If: Trading your If Only Regrets for God’s What If Possibilities” by Mark Batterson, a Right Now media video series based on Mark’s book of the same name. The study will help you explore “What If?” One little “if” can be the start of something amazing or can change the trajectory of your life. What’s your “What if?” What ideas has God planted within you; what possibilities has He provided you with? Sounds awesome, doesn’t it?!

Why bikes? Some of our best friendships have been born on two-wheels. There’s something about getting on a bicycle and meeting up with others to get a little exercise, explore some trails and get to know each other. This is open to adults of all skill/fitness levels, whether you know what a Strava segment is or if your bike spends more time hanging in the garage than it does on the road, we’d love to have you. Our goal is to get outside and enjoy each other’s company, while deepening our understanding of God’s possibilities in our lives.

Requirements: Each person will need a bicycle (preferably mountain bike style) & access to RightNow Media

5. Befriend (Running)

Mondays - Wednesdays - Fridays @ 5:00 am - Location TBD

Leaders: Phillip Close & Bethany Gates

What are you willing to risk in order to grow stronger friendships centered on Jesus? In the world we live in, it’s hard to put ourselves out there for others to see how truly broken we are. In our churches, the practice of not putting yourself out there for others to see is all too common. In this 6-session series, Scott Sauls will address how we go from an isolated relationship with others to building long-lasting relationships that will not only help us to grow, but will also better our personal relationship with Jesus. Throughout the series, you will find yourself challenged to reach out to others in order to establish Christ-centered relationships.

This group includes a fun exercise component! Throughout the series, our discussions, prayers, and fellowship will take place while running and working through the couch to 5k program. This is a program that, over a nine-week period, takes even the biggest couch potato through the process of training for and completing a 5k. Anyone is welcome to join! Whether you have never run before, or run every day, this group is for you. We look forward to this great opportunity to dig deeper into God’s word while working on our physical health.

Requirements: Each person will need access to RightNow Media

6. Father/Sons

If there are any dads who don’t have sons or their sons are grown up, we’d welcome their participation too. The activities that involve shooting will be a mentoring experience, focused on learning safety. If anyone has their own equipment they may bring it, otherwise we will supply what is needed for fishing & shooting.

Optional items if you have them: Fishing gear, shooting gear, bows, hiking boots, bug spray

7. Praying Circles

Wednesdays @ 6:30 pm – Hantz home

Leaders: Matt & Carrie Hantz

There is a surprising secret weapon to parenting: prayer. In this small group, we will be reading “Praying Circles Around the Lives of Your Children.” Using stories and experience, author Mark Batterson shares seven prayer circles that will help parents pray for their kids. In this book parents will learn how to:

-Create prayer lists unique to the their family

-Claim God-inspired promises for their children

-Turn their family circle into a prayer circle

-Discover their child's life themes

This group will focus heavily on prayer. So…we will be spending a good portion of time praying in the group. This is something we want you to know going in – but please don’t let it be a barrier in your participation. We will work to grow comfortable in prayer so that it does not become burdensome.

Requirements: Each participant will need their Bible & need to purchase Praying Circles Around the Lives of Your Children book ($10) https://www.amazon.com/Praying-Circles-Around-Lives-Children/dp/0310339731/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1525817332&sr=8-2&keywords=praying+circles+around+your+children+by+mark+batterson
